07/30/2010 - RAPID CITY SD - Heavy hail near Hart Ranch and Rockerville caused numerous reports of broken windshields yesterday afternoon, as some sudden thunderstorm systems blew through the area around 2PM.
Two and a half-inch hail was reported to have broken car windshields in Rockerville around 2:20; and reports of hail from one-and-a-half to 2 inches in size in spots bewteen Rapid City and Rockerville.
In addition, as the storm moved along, wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH were recorded near Hermosa around 3:15, and near Tuthill in Bennett County around 4PM. The line of storms also brought brief heavy rains to parts of the central and southern Black Hills yesterday afternoon.
